At the line between lane 1 & 2, the upstream female ped paused, looked left, and proceeded forward not looking left again. The 2 downstream peds parroted her lead. Peds tend to get into a herd mentality when they are crossing streets in groups. I saw that when I lived in a ped-heavy City. The worst is when a group of peds will literally follow behind a jaywalking leader without looking for themselves. If the leader paces their crossing to just squeak by, the followers are in harms way and/or causing emergency braking accidents. Clearly the driver's fault in this case, but for survival, peds need to watch the 2-ton entities regardless of the traffic law. |

Crosswalkers just assume that people are going to obey traffic laws 100% of the time and so much of the time never look at oncoming traffic. You never think it's going to be you hit by that looney tunes driver.
