The incident occurred outside a steak restaurant along Minchun Road in Pudong District, Shanghai, China on the evening of January 11.

Surveillance cameras showed a pedestrian and a child standing outside the entrance, apparently waiting for someone. Another person walked up the street and stopped in front of the restaurant.

Then, as the third adult walked out the door, a massive shockwave shattered the glass behind him and knocked out everyone on the sidewalk.

Debris flew everywhere and the victims were pushed several meters away and fell to the ground. Miraculously, they all seemed unharmed as they stood up. Soon they ran away in fear.

According to restaurant staff, the explosion occurred due to an unexpected malfunction of the dishwashing disinfection equipment. Two employees reportedly suffered minor burns. No other injuries were reported.

Local officials have not clarified whether there will be an investigation into the incident.
