Pakistan: Workers Critically Injured In Steel Mill Boiler Explosion

A boiler blast at Steel Town factory left 3 people seriously injured, one of them in critical condition.

Boiler explodes at private steel mill near Steel Town Quaid-e-Azam Park, according to ARY News, rescue sources said 3 people, including factory supervisor, were shifted to a private hospital.

Police officials say the accident occurred during daytime yesterday, according to factory management, molten steel fell on laborers while working in the factory. Ahmed, 40, is in critical condition, while factory supervisor Mukhtar has burns on 90% of his body.

Police recorded statement of factory owner Imran Amin and assistant manager, authorities say investigation of incident is underway, action will be taken against those responsible for negligence.

Sources say that management tried to hide the incident that happened and closed the factory immediately, instructing employees to remain silent.

According to sources, labor laws were also being violated in a private mill, safety arrangements were not made for mill workers during duty, initially the area police also became unaware of the boiler explosion in a private steel mill.
