The "explosion" you hear was more likely caused by the steel platform buckling under the intense heat of the molten metal as it poured out of the crucible.

"According to ARY News, a boiler exploded in a private steel mill near Steel Town Quaid-e-Azam Park. Rescue sources said that three persons including a factory supervisor were injured in the accident and were shifted to a private hospital. Police officials said that according to the factory management, the incident took place during the day time. A boiler exploded while working in the factory and lava fell on the workers. The condition of Ahmed, 40, is critical. Supervisor Mukhtar is 90% burnt."
