At Least 55 Killed, Over 100 Injured After Gelignite Storage Facility Explodes
In Kaungtup village, located in the Namhkam township of Shan State, northeastern Myanmar, an accidental detonation inside a warehouse facility storing gelignite took place on May 31. The shockwave generated a vast earth crater and completely leveled or severely damaged more than 100 residential homes in the neighborhood. Initial panic led some villagers to believe they were under an military air strike. The tragedy took place just two miles south of Myanmar's border with China. The death toll has reportedly risen to at least 55 people, with more than 100 others injured, as rescue teams continue to clear heavy debris. The dead include 30 men and 25 women. The victims also included several children, including a one-year-old toddler. Three Chinese nationals were among the dead, and at least one injured Chinese citizen is receiving medical treatment. The explosion happened in an area strictly controlled by the Ta'ang National Liberation Army. The TNLA is an ethnic armed rebel group fighting for autonomy against Myanmar's ruling military junta. The TNLA released an official statement confirming that its economic wing was storing the gelignite for use in its nearby commercial mining and stone quarrying sites. Rebel groups in Myanmar heavily rely on gemstone and mineral mining to fund their operations. The TNLA expressed deep condolences to the affected families and announced they have launched a full investigation into how the volatile materials were detonated. |

When you see all those body bags, and you think people like Gary Ridgway or Andreï Chikatilo had a similar kill count... |

In the States, here we have Home Depot and Office Depot. I think it would be great to have a local Ammunition Depot to pick up supplies for plinking.
