Re: Another Lightning Strike

All my life I was told the safest place to be during a storm with lightning and thunder was in a car because of the rubber tires.

Apparently, that is not true! I actually like driving in the rain at night.
Anything can get hit by lightning pretty much, it's how it conducts it. The steel frame conducts it to the wheels which are made of rubber and that conducts electricity or something like that.

Re: Another Lightning Strike

Yeah, I thought tires and air were the best insulation from grounding. That is totally weird
How the hell would the lightning strike the ground if air was a good insulator? Fucking moron.

which are made of rubber and that conducts electricity or something like that.
Same goes for you, fucking no-brainers.

Re: Another Lightning Strike

I would've definitely assumed way more damage and injuries would occur from being within 3 feet of a lightning strike. Glad to see they were ok. And peculiarly calm as well. Haha!

Absolutely not. What happens 100% of the time during a storm? It rains....and rain water is all over the tires and the ground. Perfect path for electricity and "you" are sitting in a metal cage/conductor.

Oh yeah BTW...Electricity takes the least path of resistance to ground...Lightning takes ALL paths of resistance to ground. Its over a million volts and goes wherever it wants to.

The car is insulated with cloth, as long as there is something that can't conduct lightning between you and the metal, you're safe.
