even with aviation head gear, he would be toast with that blow... When I read "homemade helicopter" I thought he made some thing like a drone, but can be piloted remotely... Saw a kid make one on youtube and thought this was something similar  |

It seems ridiculous to me that someone capable of building a pretty damn good looking helicopter wasn't capable of making sure the nuts and bolts were tight enough.

a seat restraint and helmet "might" have saved him but in almost every single helicopter accident, a seat restraint and helmet are irrelevant . . . normally if you crash, the seat and helmet are wearing you for protection |

I wonder if that was his first test ever,,, makes me thing why would he not do this from a distance, its like testing a weapon with a freaking rope. it could go off and kill you ..
