This is a jaw crusher. The only way to unblock it is with the machine running. In 1st world countries we use hydraulic breakers to free the stones. There will be a 6" gap along the bottom of the crusher that the poor chap would have been crushed down onto a running conveyor underneath... he may have actually lived.
... Before more boulders came down, at least.
