Re: Video From GRPD Shooting of Patrick Lyoya

He was more of blocking the taser from it being pointed at him. Hand gripped around the end of it pushing it away. Why chase a man down to wrestle with him over a license plate? Let him run, impound the car. Go back to patrol the next day. Dip shit cop, now he shot an unarmed man in the back of the head...
Was he being chased for a license plate? Or was he pulled over and was then going to get arrested on an outstanding warrant? That's usually how these confrontations start.

I get what you're saying, but there's a hard balance to be had. If the policy becomes to let all suspects go the moment they offer resistance or run away, then there's no point to having cops, since they can't enforce anything.

~ Stolen car joyride turns deadly.
He probably switched the license plates, also didn't have a license to drive anyways, & mistakenly thought it would make him undetectable.

Re: Video From GRPD Shooting of Patrick Lyoya

What would you have done exactly? And unarmed? Wrong, he was armed with the Officer's taser. I am a former LE Officer and I was tased during training and let me tell you that the taser completely immobilizes you and you are totally unable to defend yourself and are at the mercy of the person holding the taser. Had that POS tased the Officer with the Taser he could have then easily taken the Officer's weapon and killed the Officer. We were always trained that a taser is considered a deadly weapon when taken from an Officer by a bad actor and could easily lead to the Officer's death so deadly force is justified.
Other than domestics, Traffic stops lead to more Officer deaths than any other encounter. The Officer does not know this guy and does not know why the guy is resisting or what the guy is capable of. Maybe the dude has murder warrants on him or maybe he just committed a murder or robbery. The guy was told multiple times to stop resisting and to drop the taser but he refused to comply and thus so be it. He is the only person to blame for his own demise. The Officer was justified any way you look at it.
~ In other words, inexperienced officers are so more afraid of the countless unknowns, so they have to shoot first, because the are in doubtful & dire fear of their lives, then ask questions later.
~ Sounds more like an overzealous rookie, rather than an experienced officer who can instinctively & obviously read into people's intentions.
~ However, nowadays, taking an officer's weapon, regardless of which one, make the culprit an automatic death target.
~ NOTE: It takes at least 35 yrs for an officer to be emancipated as 'experienced'.

Resistance drastically decreases when one's cerebral cortex is turned to school paste. Taser dropped.

~suspect had the taser so, no, the officer did not shoot first. Questions? No question here, now or later.

~ I did not know police were expected to be psychic? What about the social worker that ‘should’ be on this call. Are they to read people perfectly as well?

~Look, you do have common sense.

~35 years huh? Source? If the cop is 32 years on the job does he only shoot black people?

Re: Video From GRPD Shooting of Patrick Lyoya

Police are trained when they’re raiser is token from theyre opposer or someone has it in there possession,to immediately pull out your firearm, almost always leading in that situation someone dying,he was just doing what the police trained him to do
A bullet in the back of the head? He could have equally shot him in the shoulder or leg. Not execute him.

Mind you, if he hadn't resisted arrest, the fool could at worst have been out on bail instead of having his butt crack displayed for all to see, for posterity.

IF YOU WANT TO RECORD AN EVENT THAT IS TAKING PLACE. ESPECIALLY ONE THAT CAN BE USED IN COURT. FOCUS YOUR CAMERA ON THE ACT(S) BEING COMMITTED - NOT THE GRASS, SIDE-WALK OR SKY!! HAVE SOME FUCKING BALLS!!!!
