Come on man. He was doing exactly what he is trained to do. If he didn't do that he would be disciplined.

The reason the officer kept the guy at gunpoint is because the threat of this being a terrorist attack could be real and the subject on fire could still be a threat to those responders.

Re: USAF Member (Aaron Bushnell) Sets Himself on Fire in Front of Israeli Embassy
I submit that if this idiot "soldier" truly cared (he didn't) about the plight of the Palestinian people, he would've taken a more rational course of action: he would've flown to Gaza and offered his services in caring for the sick, wounded and disaffected, or contributed in any small measure to the relief efforts. But what he did (his ardent conviction aside) accomplished nothing—if he had any functioning brains, he would've been cognizant of this. Obviously he couldn't care less about them—simply because he was completely and malignantly insane; as such, it was all about him, his twisted perception of reality, self-absorbed sense of importance and mental illness. He had the power to do good in someone's life—at least one real, suffering person who could've used his help—and yet he chose to deprive those very people he pretended to care about, of the very help he was fully capable to offer them while alive. Dead—he's no good to anyone. And the grief he caused to his family and friends (if he had any)... While I admire his courage in enduring burning alive to such a degree—his talents should've been demonstrated upon a real battlefield, and not squandered in useless, igneous political commentary and fiery protestations. |
