Another truck driver here. Unfortunately, guys like this are a dime a dozen in this industry. They can be found in the mega carriers, as well as the fly-by-night outfits. I work for one of the big carriers, and they give everybody the tools & info we need to be safe on the road. It's up to the driver to actually APPLY them, and learn to improve one's safe driving.

This guy must've fallen asleep. Wind doesn't push a truck around like that. If he was fighting the wind, he would be jerking from side to side to stay in his lane, not weaving all over. Besides, if the wind is that bad, drivers know to listen to the WX channel, and there are formulas for wind speed and wind gust speed, depending on the weight of your trailer, to know if you have to shut down.

Even if he was dicking with his phone, or trying to reach something in the cab, he wouldn't weave that much.

He knew he was tired, but was too dumb stop when he first started feeling it. If I start yawning, it's a clue to hit the first safe place I can park and take a break. Even a 10 minute nap works wonders.

He probably stayed up late on his 10 hour break, talking on the phone, or wasting sleep time doing god knows what on the internet. If he'd just grabbed 7-8 hours sleep like the rest of us RESPONSIBLE drivers, this wouldn't have happened.

So yeah, watch these truckers. I've met too many idiots on the road and at my company. If a truck gets close to me, I back off.

He must have lied on his CDL medical exam and didn’t admit to having seizures because otherwise he would have to have special medical clearance to even attempt to get a Commercial Drivers License. Just another lying you-know-what piece of shit.

I agree, I have seizures and I can't even have my regular license back until I've been totally free of seizures for 2 years. I can't imagine lying about it myself, just the thought of having a seizure while driving is terrifying.
