Don't let the racist persuade you with his nonsensical example. A person will avoid a suspicious character regardless of color. Black people in Germany tend to avoid suspicious looking Neo-Nazi types.

Can a person be on their guard based on their previous encounters with people of color? Sure, there's absolutely no problem with that, and in fact I would encourage people to be ready to defend themselves at a moment's notice.
