Re: UnitedHealthcare CEO Assassination
Very similar shape, looks to manually chamber a round every shot plus they're primarily used for assassinations due to their incredibly quiet nature. New replicas are considerably louder, but of course modernized to be more easy to use. Read they're bolt action so a casing isn't left behind, not so sure how accurate that is though.

Dang, one minute you're on top of the world.. and the next, you're buried under it. Surprised dude didn't have some security or entourage. They said his schedule in NYC was pretty public and known

Or he was pushing the muzzle down because he was anticipating the shot and just happened to hit him in the leg. |

Re: UnitedHealthcare CEO Assassination
A casing is ejected manually with each shot. The reason for bolt action is that mechanism is extremely quiet. Other than the firing pin, nothing else is making mechanical sound. |

Re: UnitedHealthcare CEO Assassination
Kind of reminds me of the plot of the movie John Q starring Denzel Washington. I wonder if someone close to him died or he was financially ruined because they denied coverage? Because this is a high profile case, I'm almost positive we'll eventually find out why. Our system for reimbursing healthcare is truly screwed up. Many case managers don't really think of the implications that their coverage decision can have on someone's life. Such decisions are often based on the reviewers individual interpretation of the coverage criteria or the healthcare provider's knowledge of the specific codes and phrases to use in their documentation. Then there's pricing. Medicare and private insurance pay only a portion of what gets billed--which is based on the Medicare allowable. To receive the full amount, they must bill more than the actual allowable--which is typically <2/3 of the bill. Unfortunately, the only person may could held responsible for the entire amount is someone without insurance. Sure, the hospital seldom recoups the full amount, but it's not uncommon for cases to be sent to collections. A number of hospitals are even taking their patients to court. Additionally, the costs of any care that gets written off will eventually be reflected in their pricing. |

Re: UnitedHealthcare CEO Assassination
My first thought is how shitty the resolution is from the security camera. I know it's someone recording from a computer, but there's so much better quality from poor third world places these days.
