Sadly I’ve been there and done it. Drunk driver killed a 23 year old girl and seriously injured his own daughter doing 100mph in a 30mph, hit her head on.
I found both cars in flames. Pulled him and his daughter out (I clearly didn’t know he’d been drinking). The girl in the car he hit was unconscious, she never recovered. He’s currently doing 12 years at HMC’s pleasure.

Yes they do not help because of lawsuits. It’s the same in Japan and India. In smaller cities it’s not a problem. It’s sad because most people here are very helpful, but sometimes we do not know what to do. The victim usually isn’t the one who starts the lawsuit but their parents or relatives do in an attempt at extortion. They will say “if you do not participate in this lawsuit we will disown you as our child” and the person obeys their parents because of filial piety which is very important in these countries.

I'm always astonished to read comments like this. Why in earth would anyone be fucked up "for life" (never mind even for one afternoon) by witnessing someone's death, painful or otherwise, when it didn't harm you in any way? I guess this is known as empathy, and I'm just not an empathetic person (which makes sense since I am on the autism spectrum as an Aspie). In the situation you describe, I'd just go on about my business. The only impact on me would be that I'd have an interesting story to tell.
