Likewise, for a self described hillbilly your a pretty open minded guy yourself...... I really try not to see everything in the world as black & white, right & wrong because 99% of the time its not the case..... IMHO the world is shades of grey. You have a different take on certain things, but your not ignorant about it, and you actually listen to what people say as opposed to trying to push an agenda like some people on here. Respect. |

Thanks. I am a hillbilly in the sense that I stay to myself alot, and don't trust many outsiders. Even my line of works says a bit about me. I have been digging graves for the better part of 14 years, and have seen just about everything you can imagine. I have had a couple of people ask why I continue to do it, and I guess there are several parts to that question. One is I have had a strange fascination with death most of my life, but I guess that much is obvious with me being here at DR. Another is I really do like to help people, anyone if I can at all. My wife says, and she is right, that I am crazy. I do not trust many people, but will stop on the highway if someone is having car trouble, she griped at me for lying in two inches of snow to help a man and woman get home for Christmas, but a simple fix, clogged fuel filter. Another is I have lost quite a few people to various reasons, as we all have. People used to gather up and dig people's graves, family and neigbors etc. That does not happen much anymore, but when it did, people took pride in their work. Did not matter they were not being paid, they still took pride in the work they did. I saw a "botched" burial once, and it has stuck me. My aunt was being lowered, and then the top of the vault. A dumb shit dropped the 500 pound top on her casket and destroyed it, along with her head. I told my self then, here is your line of work, doing this shit the right way. I am good at digging graves, but fuck up sometimes like all humans. I try not to let those mistakes be in vain, and I learn from them. A person's final resting place is not something I take lightly, so I try to get it as perfect as I can. Of course that never works, but I try get it as close to perfect as I can. Another reason ??? The people you are working for have no complaints, do not bitch, and are not assholes. They can't, they are dead.  . I get what you are saying about shades of gray too.

I have a friend from Suriname. He is American, but I didn't know he was a terrorist, or do you mean just the USA ? Still, it makes life a lot easier to digest, when you can apply sweeping generalizations to an entire nation of people. Auschwitz was born from equally intelligent ideas such as yours.
