I'm not surprised by this accident. I live in nyc. These kids ride these scooters so recklessly, sometimes with 2 passengers (yes, 3 in total riding one scooter), no helmets, pass on the right, ignore stop signs and weave in and out of traffic. It's terrible.

Electric bikers are going to start dropping like flies. I live on a relatively quiet suburban street with a 25 mph limit. I see some teenagers on electric bikes going 45 mph+ with no hands on the handlebars on my street, they don't have the fears we had riding bikes in the 1970's, perhaps because they spent their formative years looking at their smartphones and have never wrecked their balls sliding forward on a Stingray bannana seat.
