I'd say he hit turbulence and it screwed up his lift. The canopy looked solid even after he had let go of the control lines, so I'd say he suddenly lost lift, dropped like a stone and panicked.

Is that another paraglider visible at the time he looses control? If so, maybe he had to take evasive action and that led to his loss of control?
