Re: Suicide by Cop Like a BOSS
What a terribly stupid event performed by an obviously deranged individual. I'm sure this one will be used for training officers in the future. One thing I noticed was how many rounds he absorbed before he went down. The 'shoot the asshole as many times as you can rule' is one to follow. Once you've engaged the target, fuck the 'double-tap' bullshit, give him the magazine, reload, and give him the next one and always carry PLENTY of magazines.

Re: Suicide by Cop Like a BOSS
Double taps are only good for headshots. When the SAS stormed the Iranian embassy in London they were looking to put at least 20 rounds into each of the terrorists. The last terrorist to be shot by them had 76 bullet wounds.

Re: Suicide by Cop Like a BOSS
Yep. Waaaay more than enough should be the minimum. Even then, there is an element of risk. Waiting for the, "Why did they have to shoot him so many times? Why didn't they just shoot him in the leg? Or shoot the gun out of his hand...like in the movies?". What a supremely selfish scumbag. He could have just taken himself out quietly in a private setting. |

Re: Suicide by Cop Like a BOSS
I saw this throughout my career. Only in the movies do bad guys immediately (and predictably) drop when you shoot them. This is why I come unglued when folks start bitching about how many times a copper shoots someone...like all he needed was one shot. The average citizen has no idea what happens during a shooting...no idea how the shooter's mind and body operate in that very small window and they have even less an idea how the bad guy's mind and body operates while being shot and shot at. Everyone always looks at the shooting through their own experiences...the problem is that very very few people in our society have any actual experience with shooting people...in most cases not even military veterans. Trust me there's a butt load ton of investigation that goes into each and every bullet that exits that officer's firearm. When all the hippies and occupiers bitch and moan about cover ups, conspiracies, and illegal shootings, they fail to look at the reality of modern American post shooting investigations and how extremely detailed those investigations are. Not only do we owe an explanation to the community, but there are literally a line of dipshit tort/personal injury/criminal defense lawyers watching every move made by investigators and looking for any hole in the case to exploit. In that case, the hippies are just unwanted and distracting noise. If I'm dealing with lawyers and teams of highly qualified private detectives and expert consultants all trying to sue the department or convict the officer, hippies, anti-establishment malcontents, and opportunistic politicians, are just a distraction and more of a hinderance to the investigation.

Re: Suicide by Cop Like a BOSS
....i think he needed to go back and read "Advanced Close-Range Gunfighting" again.....he certainly should have been able to put up a better fight with forty rounds of .30 cal in his semiautomatic rifle. to the gun nuts: |
