This was sooo sad . Jesus, you're either crushed to death, burned to death, or choking to death form smoke innalation- I don't know what would be a more horrid way to die . I met Great White long before this happened (and when it was all the original members). I didn't get to see them in concert that night because they were playing at a club and I was underage, but I went to a record store meet-and-greet they did. This was back in the 90's.

My reference was to locked doors and flammable materials, not the death count. Had I been more explicit I would have mentioned the 1903 fire that killed 602 in the Iroquois Theatre fire in Chicago.

Someone made reference to this being the worst in US history...far from it.

Go to a nightclub which says it can cater for 1000 people and I guarantee you there are an additional 400.

Now take into account that the building will adhere to fire regulations, the nightclub owners will change the layouts and then change it back should a fire marshal come by for a check.

Then take into account people on a night out. Drunk and tipsy.

Add in ignorance.

Add in how many people look for fire exits except for the way they came in and there you go, 100 dead, many injured.

You can only fit so many people through a corridor measuring 2 metre wide.
