Devestating footage; still one of the worst things ever filmed. This is almost too grim to watch; all those poor people caught in the exit...at least people there were able to pull a few lucky souls out of that inferno. Still cannot figure out why pyrotecnics were allowed; what were they thinking??

The camera man left the building as soon as he saw it was on fire. Those in the back of the crowd got out; those at the front of the stage, did not. One of the band members died, as well. Sad, sad situation...

The camera guy looked to be the smartest guy in the whole club. Soon as the pyro came out he started backing toward the exit. It would be a terrible to die. I imagine there is a second story too and those were probably the ones who didnt make it. I'm just guessing so don't flip shit on me if I'm wrong and it was a single story club.

Oh yeah and for a little info on the camera man and why he was there filming: his name is brian butler and he was there doing a segment on nightclub safety due to the stampede in chicago 4 days earlier.

I work as a firefighter in Ohio and have heard and read numerous things about this incident. The side and rear exit doors were chained and locked so no one could sneak in from the outside, thus leaving only one entrance and exit point. Also the club was over occupancy levels and did not have an operating sprinkler system. The owner of the club was criminally charged and received jail time. Also over $175 million dollars has been offered as settlement to victims and family members. Horrible horrible incident. I am a fan of this website but to laugh at these victims is pathetic. Burning alive or being on the bottom of a pile of people trying to escape and being suffocated that way is an awful way to die. For those that laugh, I hope you aspirate vomit in your sleep tonight!  |
