I lived in Korea for over a year and Itaewon is most definitely NOT the most popular area. At least historically it isn't. I'll let you Google this, but there's a reason why PSY chose the location Kangnam for his global super hit, Kangnam Style.

And I have never seen a crowd this big in Itaewon. Things may have changed though after the Army moved their large base down south.

Its become a lot more popular lately. Its not as cool as Hongdae but its gotten more divorced from the old stereotype every year. I think the base leaving did it.

I have a fetish being racially discriminated, but i gotta tell you it's not that Koreans do enjoy Halloween just because they don't know it is foreign culture. To Koreans, Halloween is nothing but another festival, they don't take Halloween seriously, they are like 'oh, Halloween, festival time, let's have some fun or make some good memories', not 'This is Halloween day, we need to celebrate Halloween culture.'
As if they don't celebrate Christmas as the day Jesus was born, but just to have some fun at that time.
