Re: Sonia Stamm Fatal Parachute Jump
I went up in a plane once with some friends with the goal of jumping out. My friend went first and as I was preparing to go, we got a radio call from the ground that my friend needed to go to the hospital immediately. He had blown out his femur and that was the one and only time I ever considered jumping out of an airplane.

Re: Sonia Stamm Fatal Parachute Jump
She was an idiot, and shouldn't have been skydiving. When your parachute first opens, your very first task is to determine if it's safe enough to fly. If it's not, and there's nothing you can do with a "quick fix", then you cut it away. YOU DO NOT CUT AWAY once you're less than a couple thousand feet off the ground. You just don't. Low cutaways are the most preventable mistake in the sport. Cut higher, and you will be fine.
