But the clip is definitely legit.

Audio clipping doesn't work like that. I've edited feature films, so I know that. I concede that it's possible that the impact may've cut off the live stream - I was naively presuming that the footage had been recorded on the actual device itself, in which case it would probably continue to record even after the battery was disconnected (most devices have their own battery). For me, it's the way the body is positioned in the aftermath footage. It looks too staged. Even the blood down the side of the car looks fake.
