Re: Should've Looked Right

This looks like a german Intercity-Express (ICE) Train to me. The usual speed of them is 320 km/h (200 mph) (they can go up to 400 km/h) and only stop in major cities.

It takes ages for trains to both gaining speed and slowing down.
Europe is densely covered by smaller cities and train stations.
If the trains would have to slow down at every city, it would increase travel times by hours - which would make highspeed trains pointless.

It should be common sense to not pass train tracks without looking.
So I guess let Darwin do his job, and let the high speed trains do theirs.
You have said this much more politely and patiently than I just did ……….

Re: Should've Looked Right

As I've stated before, I think trains, when passing through a crossing and/or station, etc. should be going at a slow speed....then once passed, back up to speed again! We do it at school zones, right?!
Maybe airplanes need to slow down when above school zone as well. The whole purpose of a train is that it moves fast on a specific rail. Slowling shit down because people can't look left and right is stupid like you. Maybe time for you to cross the railway.

Re: Should've Looked Right

You have an irish name, and you can certainly tell that by your thinking.

I don't know who is more fucking stupid, you or the person who got skittled.

Look at the sheer numbers of humanity who use the rail system to move around each day to get to their jobs, their schools, or visit friends, families or other towns and city centers.

Then look at the small number of RETARDED IMBECILES who walk straight into the path of one because they are either drunk, got their faces stuck in their phones, or were day dreaming about the piece of ass at work they would like to slot.

You want the BILLIONS of people around the world who rely on this system of transport - to take 3 or 4 or 10 times as long to get where they are going, just in order to rescue some thick skulled idiot from being sent to "meet their ancestors" a few years earlier than they would have liked to ?

They can give me a demerit point for flaming outside the cooler if they want to - but you ….. you are a fucking idiot for having such a thought.
First things first, human life is far more precious, and sacred (even yours), than a "schedule!" And secondly, preventative measures are utilized all the time in our lives! For example, traffic lights have saved how many lives, and yet how much time can they slow us down, especially in cities where they take so long to change, but nevertheless motorists/pedestrian lives are still more important than punctuality! And for another example, do we not immunize our children, their lives being sacrosanct, for preventative purposes, their very lives being so important to shield them from deadly illnesses, etc. Alas, on railroad tracks it seems human life has no import....

Re: Should've Looked Right

Why? If people are stupid they deserve what they get. Trains go fast why should the train driver have to slow down for idiots crossing.

Re: Should've Looked Right

A simple pedestrian overpass could have prevented this.
Looking both ways before crossing could have also prevented this.

Re: Should've Looked Right

I fear this will happen to me one day, as often as I walk around headphoned and oblivious.
