Lol, I'm the last person to think Hollywood has any accuracy at all.

I am a person who has not only been to Mexico myself, but has many friends including law enforcement and military who have been involved in some international, "events". I can tell you, things aren't as peachy as you imply...

One day in 2001, the Twin Towers came crashing down. That is what we would call an outlier event. We don't see skyscrapers collapsing everywhere all the time. It's not a generalized thing. Your one visit to a Cancún resort does not come close to my 60 years of business travel all around Latin America, including Mexico. For every outlier event where Chapo Guzmán's thugs take on the federales, there are ten million normal everyday people living in a house just like the ones in California or Florida, dropping their kids off at a bilingual school, shopping for Lay's potato chips and Sketchers, and going to work in a modern business indistinguishable from its branch in Manhattan. Your normalcy bias doesn't let you see that this stuff is as rare in almost all of Mexico as mass shootings are in your local shopping mall.

Nobody watches an old Western and thinks that is Arizona anymore.
