Re: ~Scaffold Collapses In Charlotte North Carolina~
They aren’t Spanish, they are Hispanics. And even without their help, I’m sure the reduction to the prison system, police, and social welfare programs would more than balance out the increased cost of labor after removing the criminal migrants from this country |

Re: ~Scaffold Collapses In Charlotte North Carolina~
I keep trying to make this point around here but people are super sensitive when you tell them that most of Latin America is actually okay now and the USA is falling behind the rest of the world. They watch movies like Sicarios and think that's Mexico. Most of Mexico now looks about like anywhere stateside. Same brands, same house styles, same roads, same signs, pretty much all the same. Last year I was in Caracas and I saw billboards in English advertising Pizza Hut and cruises to Alaska.

Re: ~Scaffold Collapses In Charlotte North Carolina~
Which is why the condescension about them being "immigrants for a better life" is so old. These guys travel from work site to work site in any number of countries. They are not desperate to settle down in the USA. Heck, you guys are paying $8 for a dozen tiny eggs. In the Dominican Republic that money would buy you a lifetime supply. And people are noticing. The Americans sit around with their thumbs up their asses thinking everyone is just desperate to go there. It's not the 1980's anymore. |
