The instant an armed robber pulls out and aims his weapon, he or she has set the rules of engagement. They have taken the stance that they are willing to kill or maim their victims if they do not comply. They've decided that this is a deadly force engagement. The pharmacist was ready with a weapon and stepped up and played by exactly the rules that the robber created when he pulled his weapon. If there was no robber, the pharmacist would have spent his day counting pills and doing whatever else pharmacists do and his gun would have stayed in the holster.

The robber played by his own rules and lost. Zero sympathy. Fuck him.

I'd prefer to live in a place where less people feel the need to commit crimes and everyone has food to eat and a bed to sleep in and a cottage to vacation at.

Not exactly. More power ALWAYS equals quicker incapacitation (in the vital zones). But shot placement is always more important than power. A 50 cal MAY kill you if it hits an outer extremity (hydrostatic shock) but thats a very slim chance. A 22 will drop you right there if it hits the brain stem. Its really just a crap shoot. People die all the time from being shot once by a 22 while the next guy might live after 10 rounds of 45...

Carry a 9, 40 or 45, put 2 in the chest, 1 in the head, if they arnt "stopped" by that, get out your silver bullets and your Katanas...
