Re: Police Body Cam Footage of Fatal Shooting 20 Year-old Dillon Taylor
Not necessary to shoot this kid in a kill area. Could had shot in leg, or waited until he given a chance to put his hand up. Cop was to trigger happy.

Re: Police Body Cam Footage of Fatal Shooting 20 Year-old Dillon Taylor
I like to think I'm neither. Why would I lie? Our murder rate is in no way comparable to that in the US. Our police officers aren't routinely armed. It's very difficult to get a firearms certificate, so hardly anyone has a gun. We have a smaller percentage of the population in prison than the US does. We don't execute people. Our prisons are a hell of a lot safer (I speak from experience there as a former prison officer). America is way more fucked up than the UK. There was a recent case of an armed man attacking two police officers. One of the officers was shot in the hand, and the other officer wrestled the gun from the guy. In America, that guy would've been shot dead. Dude, it's okay loving your country, but surely you must accept it has flaws? The UK has lots of them, but mostly they don't result in death. |

I mean, He was called into a report for someone with a gun who was acting threatening. Then he wont take his hands out of his waistband (where guns are carried) refusing to do so. I think the officer did what he had to do. We should however find who ever made that call and charge them with manslaughter, however.

Re: Police Body Cam Footage of Fatal Shooting 20 Year-old Dillon Taylor
Criminals don't need "certificates" to get guns...that's why they are criminals. I could fly over there from the U.S. right now and have a gun in my hands within 24 hours, you can bet everything you have on that. And another thing, not everyone in the U.S. that has guns is a criminal...matter of fact, the majority are law-abiding citizens. Sure he would have been shot dead...he tried to KILL 2 people. If he had attacked me here in the U.S., I wouldn't have even needed a cop...I would have shot him myself. Instead, what you're saying is you're going to clothe and feed this maniac for the rest of his life at the taxpayer's expense. Or even worse, let him out back on the streets thinking you "rehabilitated" him, only for him to end up killing someone later. As I said, the guy I know was born and raised in the U.K. and he has a totally different story than you do. Actually, he lives in California which is the worst state in the country as far as gun laws are concerned, and he still owns many and is able to protect himself. His own words: "I definitely feel much safer than I felt in the U.K." |

Re: Police Body Cam Footage of Fatal Shooting 20 Year-old Dillon Taylor
No police forces in the world are trained to shoot someone in the legs, arms, or any other extremities...you fire center mass (the chest) ALWAYS. You cannot pull off a shot like that under stress anyway...and if you tried and missed, the suspect could easily put a few rounds into YOUR chest, so you wouldn't be going home that night. so that argument has been put down a long time ago. On top of that, you have literally a fraction of a second to decide what you are going to do in that situation.

Re: Police Body Cam Footage of Fatal Shooting 20 Year-old Dillon Taylor
It's quite sad that he feels safer because he has access to guns. I'll wager that the only way you could fly over here and have an illegal gun within 24 hours would be if you were a criminal, or mixing in those circles. I take your point that criminals have illegal firearms as opposed to legitimately held ones, but the majority of criminals in the UK use knives or fists. Our burglars, they don't carry guns when they burgle houses. Our muggers use threats of physical violence as opposed to a Glock. It's part of the reason why our police force doesn't need to be routinely armed - we don't live in a gun culture and our criminals aren't usually armed. Even our gangsters would prefer to use their fists or a knife (Kenny Noye knived someone to death in a road-rage incident - he didn't shoot him). Half a dozen hairy arsed coppers will drag a thug to the ground and take him out of action. It's a completely different society to the US, and I can only presume that your friend lived in one the small pockets of the UK where gang culture means that one person in a gang of perhaps 20 youths has a firearm (perhaps somewhere like Nottingham, one of the dodgier suburbs of London or Manchester etc). But take my word for it, the worst place in the UK is nothing like somewhere like Compton. But no hard feelings, man.
