Little dogs are more likely to bite because they're scared of you. Bigger dogs aren't necessarily scared so much, but if they do 'lose it' and bite it can do a lot more damage even if it's just once. I know several very sweet pit bulls/related-shaped breed dogs, but it's not unlike owning any other potentially lethal pet: you need to be aware of their mood and how they might react to something, it's kind of a 'back of the mind management' affair. Pitties et al can get into a 'mode', you could call it, even if there's just one, and even if whatever just happened (if anything) wouldn't've set other dogs off perhaps... and then there will be carnage. It's kind of programmed into their genes (by humans). Own them if you like, but then don't say ANYthing (like please don't put down my dog) when they finally snap and kill or life-long maim someone.

Lots of stupid people own pitbulls who shouldn't. The breed itself is awesome, your hate notwithstanding. Besides, many different breeds are labeled "pitbull", including massive Presa Canarios and Cane Corsos. You're for banning those useful breeds too, are you? Irresponsible dog ownership should be punished severely without impacting innocents.

My oldest daughter was the manager of a pet motel & their policy prohibited pitbulls. There was a reason.

Pits are great dogs as long as you don't get one that's been bred from fighters. However, they're extreme dogs and only experienced dog owners should get one, and they need to be responsible. They're just like german shepherds, except they latch on and you gotta use a breaker bar or choke them out, and best not to have them around little kids. Be responsible and you wont have any problems.

I’m for banning weaponized breeds designed for pure aggression, lack of fear, and enjoyment of pain. They’re literally masochistic. There are no innocent pits, only ticking time bombs.
