Re: Peter Smedley Assisted Suicide

When my mother was diagnosed with cancer and there was no cure she signed a paper which enabled her doctor and another unrelted-to-the-case physician to help her die with dignity. (It's the law here that the case is reviewed by 2 doctors) Fortunately we didn't have to "help" her as she passed away quietly in a natural way. It was her wish and if I had had the possibility and if I thought she was in too much pain or whatever, I would have done it myself. It was her last wish and everyone deserves to die with dignity.

Re: Peter Smedley Assisted Suicide

This should be allowed everywhere. In cases of terminal illness, life support, whatever. In those cases, it is not the "easy way out". It takes courage to look death in the face like that, and meet it head on willingly.

Re: Peter Smedley Assisted Suicide

What a weird, kind of shallow person that is. You would think he would want to be alone... or to have his thoughts together, or to have some meaning in life before he goes.

Instead he's just like "jolly ho, thanks for the poison, thank you very much. Good day sirs." And then the lady gives him a chocolate... just... eh.

I thought somebody like that Bjork stalker was more meaningful, had real feeling. The guy in this vid was just like a worthless shell, only concerned to be polite as he left.

Re: Peter Smedley Assisted Suicide

The wife seems strangely composed and unemotional to me, I think I would be the total opposite.

I've actually thought about this quite often, no way do I want to end up like some of the people I've known or seen on here.

An easy, clean, dignified exit for me when the getting is good!
I can tell you from first hand experience that once you have almost lost a loved a few times through illness you become prepared for the day that they do pass, Still not easy but i can see how she would exactly feel.
