Woman crushed to death while recording landslide

Those who admired a previous collapse left the place when they saw the danger, she decide to continue recording

Peru - A woman died buried by an avalanche of mud and stones that she was recording with her cell phone in the region of Cusco, in the southeastern Peru, the Civil Defense reported on Monday.

SH, 35, had started taking pictures with her cell phone on Sunday afternoon of the avalanche that descended from a hill on the side of a highway when she was hit by the landslide then collapsed and disappeared before the eyes of dozens of people.

The incident was recorded in a video recorded by another person and broadcast on social networks.

Dozens of bus passengers traveling along the road between Huambutio and Huancarani had gotten off of the vehicles in view of the imminence of the avalanche. Several of them alerted H to move away from the risk area, but she continued to capture images with her phone.

After hours of searching, the Civil Defense announced Monday that the lifeguards had found the body of the woman, who had five children, according to local media.

Heavy seasonal rains throughout the Andes have weakened the soil in the mountains, favoring avalanches and river overflows.

The National Disaster Center warned that between January and March there is a high risk of flooding and avalanches in regions of the Peruvian Andes due to the rainy season.

According to the Civil Defense, 23 people have died due to the current rainy season in Peru.

Oh my god, that's so tragic. She was able to pass on her mentally defective genes five times before she died. So sad.

Death by suislide.

As suicides go, a landslide by Mother Nature ain’t the worst, she won’t just be another statistic, she’ll be the statistic
