So you work and live in Shanghai, China, huh? I lived there back when it wasn't the sprawling cosmopolitan city it is now, back when it was more like the Soviet Union.

So that tells me 2 things. First, you must be quite the "privileged" one having all the perks of being an expat living in a foreign country, in a very cosmopolitan city at that, or second, you are a Chinese national who is privileged enough to have access to a site like DR, which I am sure is predominantly censored in China.

Actually, there is a third possibility and that is that you are full of it all the way around.

Man, just think of all the hypocrisy and double standards you have my friend. You get to sit in an air conditioned office, getting paid handsomely (it does get quite hot and humid in Shanghai during the summer), while political prisoners are having their livers torn out of them without anesthetics and fully conscious and while people who belive in an Abrahamic deity are imprisoned in massive "re-education camps," brainwashing them to believe that the CCP and Xi Jingpin is a God. How is that for privilege?

Maybe you should renounce and give up your privileges first before telling others who are less fortunate than you to give up theirs and maybe I can take what you say more seriously.

My dad was a cop for a while back in the 1970s. One night he was called to a bar shooting where the victim was still alive. Apparently he had gotten into it with some dude, and the guy told him "i'm going to go get my gun out of my car, and if you're still here when I come back I'm gonna shoot your ass". Well the idiot just sat there on his bar stool drinking, and sure enough the guy came back and shot him, point blank. When my dad asked him why he didn't leave when the guy said he was going to shoot him, he said he thought the guy was too chickenshit to really do it. Crazy thing about the Pennsylvania shooting is apparently nobody was drinking.
