Same here!!  I think they made a mistake about his name. I think his name was Hugh Jass.   If you're a FAT FUCK... don't expect the things that work for normal people to work on you. The FDNY guy on the ladder was one of the truck drivers/operators, hence the lack of gear. The ladder they were on was setup backwards. He probably scrambled to help save the guy even though he was probably not supposed to with out the right gear. High adrenaline situation.
