Music Teacher Singing My Way in Spanish Dies of Cardiac Arrest
Mexico, Saturday evening 13th, music teacher, Luis E. B, better known as 'Profe G', was offering a concert with his musical group Unión San Francisco. When singing the Spanish version of the French song Comme d'habitude, co-written and performed by French singer-songwriter Claude François in 1967, and later rewritten to english and named "My Way" by Paul Anka, who adapted the melody to create new lyrics for Frank Sinatra to record in 1969, Luis fell ill and leaned on a keyboard and then fainted. He was being assisted by his backing singer, who prevented him from falling on his back. Despite the rapid arrival of Red Cross paramedics, nothing could be done. The teacher, a retired high school principal in Magdalena, died on the scene from sudden cardiac arrest. Relatives who were in the audience, confirmed that the 61-year-old man suffered from heart disease and was just days away from undergoing open-heart surgery. |
