Re: Motorcyclist dies in truck accident caught on tape in Taiwan
Yeah, I have seen this CLASSIC before. I just keep thinking, that truck is not THAT big, I truly believe he could have stopped after the first wheel.

Re: Motorcyclist dies in truck accident caught on tape in Taiwan
Wanna bet? It takes better than 250 feet on dry pavement to bring a fully laden truck to a full stop. Oh, and I guarantee you, too, that the driver of the truck never saw the guy on the scooter before he hit him. Big trucks like that - even cabovers - have 15-feet of blind spot directly in front of them. As for the guy on the scooter, I'll give you good odds that he had earplugs in his ears, and he was listening to his music. Because from the way it looked, he never heard the truck coming up behind him. That or he might have been intoxicated. The thing about this that shocked me the most, was how the guy on the scooter just appeared out of no where. I mean, one minute he wasn't there, and then he... well, was! The only thing I can figure is he came out of that side street (or driveway or ally or whatever it was), pulling out in front of the truck as he came out. The moral of the story: "Where big trucks are involved, inattentiveness or distractions can kill!" |
