Re: Mexico - Skinning His Face
1 vs 30. The cartel are so impressive.... if you're into torturing the defenseless. Otherwise they're a bunch of pussies. And so are you. |

Re: Mexico - Skinning His Face
Yup! Here’s how how remember it: “C3, C4, and C5 keep the diaphragm alive.” Lol. I don’t know if you guys have ever seen Million Dollar Baby? This boxer girl got kicked, went airborne, and her head alone landed on some little short corner stool/table thing. Her neck fell to the ground. So that broke her neck at a very top and she was on a respirator. Usually, the vertebral bones break and they’re what sever the spinal cord, like in a “hangman’s fracture” that you get in hangings when they drop you. But are had like a complete C1 C2 severance. The Phrenic nerve (C3, C4, C5) comes out lower than that (as does innervation to both limbs) so, just like you said, those are all interrupted. Offline for life. The nervous system is really just a bundle of electrical cables. They even have a covering like wires do lol. The heart is just a 4 chamber engine connected by a set of pipes (blood vessels). But one way to imagine it would be if you had those old school Christmas lights that were connected in serial and you pulled a bulb and all of the downstream bulbs went out. (But I believe all the bulbs would go out though in real life cuz the circuit is a loop and the current can’t go around again and again and again…it’ll hit that roadblock at one point.) With spinal cord injuries, everything proximal to (“above”) an injury will be okay, but everything distal (“downstream” or “below”) will be lost. “S2, S3, and S4 keep the pee off the floor” is a similar mnemonic that the TA’s gave us. So no tetraplegics or whatever it’s called will have bladder control. I liked “Point and Shoot” to remember that the Parasympathetic nervous system POINTS the penis into erection and the Sympathetic nervous system cases ejaculation. This doesn’t mean your dick is hard when you’re “resting and digesting” (or maybe it always is lol) or that a dude in “fight or flight” who is running from an angry bear will be spraying cum all over himself lol. It just means that the nerves controlling those functions are part of those particular nervous systems and use those neurotransmitters. “Some Anatomists Like Fucking, Others Prefer Manual Stimulation” gives the branches off the external carotid artery from lowest to highest on the body. The TA’s taught us well lol. I guess I assume that most ppl know C, T, S (ie C4 or S3) cuz slipped discs are so common in our society |

Re: Mexico - Skinning His Face
No, that wouldn’t be possible. I commented on this page about that. https://www.documentingreality.com/f...9/index14.html ETA: Omg I plead chemo brain on that part lol. Don’t worry, this video is not even 2 minutes long. I think this is an appropriate place to include a photo of the cake I made at the end of 1st yr med school neuro I only have a picture of it still cuz I screenshotted my Facebook pic of it awhile ago lol. This is a fuck you neuro moment. Seriously. End of edit…but this point still stands: And a partial severance of a spinal cord while a victim is lying down would cut the back of the cord. Pain and temperature travels up the spinal cord in what’s called the “anterolatetal column.” You’d have to cut all the way through to interrupt that. It’s on the front side. Hence “antero” aka “anterior.” |
