According to a study from the Nation Institute of Justice, the recidivism rate is between 25-40 percent for re-offenders.

Shawna Cleary, a professor at the University of Central Oklahoma researched sex offenders and has been active in criminal justice reform. She said another challenge with tracking recidivism rates of sex offenders is under-reporting.

“The vast majority of sex offenses are not reported. So I think my recidivism rate is really low, but actually my report rate may be really low,” Cleary said. “I tell my students that we never truly know how much sexual abuse we have in our society because the report rate is so low.”

The crime has a low reporting rate, so it is unknown how many sex offenders are released and then commit another sex offense.

Anecdotally, I worked in the field of child predator investigations for many years and had the opportunity to arrest several people repeatedly. Although, not always for the same offense.

It's mostly the younger men who engage in recidivist behavior. But they tend to alter their M.O. and victims after release. Usually, instead of preying on children physically they move to cultivating child pornography, conversing with children online, and following kids at parks, malls and beaches for grooming and photos to satisfy their prurient needs, believing that these are harmless alternatives.

As a Mental Health Therapist I have seen evidence that Sexual Preferences are hardwired. And the above justifies my findings. They may state that they are "cured" but there is no such thing in this situation. They always are looking (but not touching) kids. There are those who do this and feel guilt, There are those who enjoy the harm they do (Like the guy who made "Daisy's Destruction" - -Do Not Ask!!) There are those who feel no guilt, there are those who believe (like NAMBLA) that they are not harming the kids and that the kids enjoy being penetrated by an adult penis. They will swear that it is seen as an act of love by the victim. I totally agree that these people need to be put out of our misery by death. They do not understand and never will no matter what. You can chemically or actually castrate someone but they will continue to look upon the objects of their affection. They cannot help it so best to send them along so they do not hurt others or lock them up for life with no chance of parole.

It's a symbiotic relationship. They kill some pretty shitty people. I've seen how quickly people get prices put on their head from being simple petty thieves, it's quite funny.

They aren't often going after innocent people. Those who do are often frauds who simply "name drop" like they're in cartels to scare the innocent. I'm not saying cartels don't kill innocent people, but it happens way less than you've been led to believe. And when it does, it gets blown out of proportion as if it's a common occurrence. Most of these deaths are often cartel/drug related and nothing more.

And that's why we aren't extinct even with the cartels running the show basically. It's the wild wild west down here. A true americans dream.
