This is the second time one of these guys beg for some water. The first was the dad who disemboweled the "murderer of his son". I'm guessing thirst is one of the torture methods they employ.

No, I think its the shock and the blood loss makes them thirsty. Having been the victim of a severe unprovoked stabbing as a teenager I can tell you I lost a lot of blood and then one thing I can remember above the pain was being thirsty as fuck and begging for water.. They gave me a tiny wet sponge to suck.

Not a doctor but I am sure its to do with the blood loss. The sudden loss of blood will cause intense thirst. Its fucked up, there he is dying but still asking for water. That messed me right up and reminded me clearly of that day and makes me feel ill thinking about it..

You are right, it is the blood loss that causes the intense thirst, losing all that liquid from your body all at once...
I know exactly the little sponge for water you are referring to.
I'm guessing you needed surgery so they wouldn't give you anything by mouth, just enough to wet your whistle, as they say.
