Not a good sign when you see a deviated trachea.. When the trachea is pushed to one side like it appears, that means the pressure on the affected side is lost.. Due to a collapsed lung perhaps..

Good job on the first responders, shitty conditions, and limited means
The worst deviated trachea I saw was on an 18 month old baby after she had crawled underneath the family van completely unbeknownst to Grandma who backed down the driveway over her head and neck... When we arrived on scene...we pretty much knew the outcome wouldn't be good but worked her anyway... Myself doing CPR... another medic was trying like hell to establish an airway and yet another medic was trying to get a couple of lines in... We never were able to get vitals on her... We got her to the ER where the Doc performed a thoracotomy all to no avail... She was pronounced dead approximately 1/2 hr later... Maybe it's me but I find it so hard to lose the little ones...

Little ones get me as well.. As you demonstrated, always perform as much as possible and let the family know you are doing everything that can possibly be done.. In your case it was obvious that she was not going make it, but the fight still continued till pronounced.. Thanks for doing what you do
