Hmmm.... im not that knowledgeable in engines.... but i think flywheels have teeth around them right? I did some googling and nearest part i found that looks similar are the torque converters. i think its an old model picture i found though.

you are thinking of the ring gear that attaches to the flywheel (the starter motor turns the ring gear (hence the teeth)). when they come off, they do destroy everything in their way, but there is a good chance the teeth may already have fallen off in such a breakage

however you do seem more knowledgeable on engines than some here, because that picture is not of a flywheel - they are solid pieces of metal, not shaped pieces of cast

It's the cast iron bell housing from the transmission that surrounds the clutch. Evidently, the clutch blew sending this broken piece off the bell housing into the dude.

then wheres the bell housing bolt holes?

theres normally one every 4 to 5 inches.
