Re: Marco Simoncelli R.I.P

Damn, but shocked this doesn't happen more often. Riding a motorcycle is dangerous to begin with, but even more so when riding like this.

Re: Marco Simoncelli R.I.P

Man, it's a total downer.
Everyone is totally bummed.
At least he died doing what he loved

Accidents on the racetrack don't always go bad though.

Re: Marco Simoncelli R.I.P

Repost but had to watch it anyway. Really sad. He was one of my favourite riders, was a little cuckoo and thats partly the reason why.

Re: Marco Simoncelli R.I.P

His riding position was NOT normal before the impact, hard to say what caused it to happen (when he enters the camera field of sight, he's already almost scratching the tarmac with his helmet) maybe he even fainted or just lost control of the bike and was simply unbalanced (he previously lost the control of the bike, loosing grip on the front tyre) : compare his position with the one of all the other riders, and you'll see that he was almost lying horizontally. What's sure is that he crossed Edwards' path who could do nothing to avoid him Maybe images taken from some different angle could clarify this.
What happens sometimes when you lose the front end in a turn and the bike is down you can pick the bike up by turning in the handle which makes the bike try to stand up and the tyres grip the asphalt. It seems to have been the case over here but maybe the bike didnt stay down because Marcos leg was still under it and it couldn't lie flat, so the tyres gripped and brought the bike around across the track into the other riders path. I've seen bikes do stranger things after going down. There was nothing anyone could've done. At real speed it all happened in less than 2 seconds.
