Man and Woman on Skidding Bike Run Over by a Bus
An auto-rickshaw parked along a road and loose gravel behind it turned Saturday into doomsday for a 23-year-old woman, who was on her way for a bank recruitment test. G M. K. and her brother S. C. were riding on a motorbike around 7.15 am. Just in front of a Hotel, he was trying to overtake a private bus when he saw the auto parked on the roadside.  He applied the brakes but the motorbike skidded on the gravel and lost control. Both were thrown off the bike, with the woman getting crushed under the wheels of the bus. She died on the spot, while the man, who was injured, was taken to hospital. An uncle said she was preparing for the bank examination for the last few months and wanted to get a job in a public sector bank. The man too was appearing for the same exam. “On Saturday morning the entire family wished them good luck before they left for the exam centre. Unfortunately, we lost her in the accident,” he said. A pall of gloom descended over the locality as her body was brought to her house in the evening. Relatives and well-wishers gathered at the residence. Meanwhile, the local police registered a case against the driver of the bus, A. (28), and took him into custody hours after the incident. |
