Part of what happens when our bodies are shutting down, especially when it’s hit with severe trauma.
Organs shutting down, still trying to work until they can’t anymore due to the injuries.
Plenty of videos here show people, who I think would be declared dead, but look as if they are gasping for air. I think it’s called agonal breathing.

My mom once shared of an experience she had when she was at a morgue, the man laying dead on the slab, sat right up. Scared the hell out of her. But he was dead dead.
How freaky is that? Shivers!
