Re: ~Man Killed While Breaking Into Ex-Girlfriend's Home~
I like that the homeowner didn't bust his storm door with a bad shot. Great shooting!

Re: ~Man Killed While Breaking Into Ex-Girlfriend's Home~
I am familiar with stalkers like him. They cannot accept that the relationship is over and will not give up. Even an ass whipping and a Peace Bond will not deter them and they will keep coming back until something like this happens or he kills the ex-girlfriend or the whole family if he thinks they are in his way. Better to end the problem this way than attending you daughters funeral. Dad had the perfect opportunity to end it as no jury will convict dad under these circumstances.

Re: ~Man Killed While Breaking Into Ex-Girlfriend's Home~
For those complaining about this shooting, Castle Doctrine, a British Common Law principle dating to the early 17th Century, is what governs this shooting. Virtually every US state has formalized this common law principle, and some states have expanded it to no duty of retreat in any public place (Stand your ground). At its core, Castle Doctrine means that you have no duty to retreat from your home and you can defend yourself with force. If a person reasonably feared imminent peril of death or serious bodily harm to oneself or another, deadly force is justified. In virtually every grand jury ever impaneled, busting down a door to a home was considered to meet that reasonable fear standard. |

Re: ~Man Killed While Breaking Into Ex-Girlfriend's Home~
This guy was a stalker posing a danger to the girl and her family. They cannot accept that the relationship is over and will not give up. Even an ass whipping and a Peace Bond will not deter them and they will keep coming back until something like this happens or he kills the ex-girlfriend or the whole family if he thinks they are in his way. We do not know what this family had been dealing with with this guy. He could have been threatening the girl and the families life. The dad did not know whether the punk had a gun and was busting down his door with the intentions of murdering his family. I would have shot his ass to. No jury in the world would convict the guy under these circumstances. He was rightly protecting his family. Also the first two shots did not hit him in back.

Re: ~Man Killed While Breaking Into Ex-Girlfriend's Home~
In what country are you not allowed to use lethal force to stop a home invasion? This isn't attempted trespassing. Trespass is when he stepped on the property and was told to leave. Forcibly entering an occupied home, is an invasion. He was looking at up to 10 years in prison.

Re: ~Man Killed While Breaking Into Ex-Girlfriend's Home~
He forcibly entered a home he knew he was not welcome to enter and had been warned lethal force may be used. Totally justified shooting. He'd get at least 3 rounds at my door.
