Don't get me wrong...it is still up to the police to charge and then a jury to convict.....but yeah technically owning a gun for self protection isn't a viable reason and someone attempts to break into your home.....your supposed to call the rcmp and wish the best?

As a homeowner myself with a similar front door, I'm glad he didn't hit the storm door and have to replace that too. We come and go via the garage so we keep the storm door locked too.

I would have waited until he actually made it inside the door, just to be safe.

Ummm, he was a threat. Trying to break down a door to gain entry even though they were warned that they had a gun inside. I've never heard of someone breaking down the door to be friendly. They had no clue if he had a weapon or not but knew he was dangerous by his actions.. This shooting was totally justified. I would love to know how you would handle it if your family was inside in this situation. My role as a parent would to be protect my family at all cost.

The fact he still went for it after knowing about the gun makes it worse for the kid, IMO. I’ve never had someone break into my house but I sure as hell am not trying to get killed by taking an approach that might work in better favor of the threat. I don’t break into homes and I’d expect I might get shot if I did and rightfully so too.

For the people who think this guy DID NOT deserve to be shot, please do one thing for me. Search the videos right here on this site of brutal killings of innocent people by “unarmed” people. Then see if you feel like an idiot by using the “he was unarmed” defense.

I suppose he should have waited until he was completely inside (after breaking down the door) to ask if he was armed and then ask him kindly if he would stay still while they filled his ass with lead. Call it what you want, we’ll call it justifiable homicide. Anyone, friend or foe, breaks down my door, I’d do the same.
