Re: Man Killed During Fight Over Mattress

Imagine going through all that and not even being able to keep your dumpster treasure mattress because it got brain spatter on it!

This. There's things I would definitely take/give a bullet for, a mattress in the dumpster is definitely not one of them. Looked like a bunch of dick measuring that went way too far, to me.

Re: Man Killed During Fight Over Mattress

I don't know what it is, I've had people at gun point several times, all criminals, caught in the act, but several acted just like dumb fuck here! Luckily I didn't have to take the shot, but it was VERY CLOSE a few times. Only thing I can think is it's the foolish, "it can't happen to me" mentality many humans seem to have?

Absolutely, just like they were running after Kyle, as if theyhad the firepower—when they didn't.

I'm certain it's a dissociated/reality-shorn, many-times-removed, heightened state of mind—and manic to boot.

One possible issue I have though, regarding the unfolding of events at the end, is that after Ed threw the bat, he was not armed anymore (arguably not a threat?), since we did not see him enter the frame (as the father crouched and lost his balance, teethering leftward).

At that point, it could be argued that the son had the option to shoot in the air/ground—but this, of course, is contingent upon how many cartridges he would have left in case Ed continued his physical attack.

Pointing the gun at Ed and saying "Stop or I'll shoot/freeze" would have had no effect at this point, in my opinion.

So the son had scant options left—if any.

Trying to shoot Ed in the leg is counterintuitive in America, since it's not police policy, due to liability and subsequent danger if the shot was missed.

(On another website, I did however see Russian police successfully stop a strong attacker who lunged at them with a knife, by shooting him in the leg repeatedly—and he survived, still standing, having given up and having thrown away the knife; but I reckon their firearms utilized a smaller caliber, with much lower velocity and penetration characteristics. 18Zulu, if you could please elaborate on this, I would appreciate it, thank you.)

Ed also kept saying "I'm gonna put 9 inch in this motherfucker"—so who knows what else he had available, if he also had a male sidekick, who actually gave him the bat to begin with (I'm not sure if the wife gave him the bat or not).

I'm playing the devil's advocate a bit now... but I still stand by my original Second Amendment interpretation.

Of course, in hindsight, it's easy to look for missed options, from our expert analyst's armchair, but all I can think of in the end—is that a son acted within a fraction of a second to defend his father.

Re: Man Killed During Fight Over Mattress

(P.S. I'm thinking that in Russia, in the encounter I described, a person forfeits his right to seek damages in court—if the alternative, unavoidable and necessary police action would have been to shoot in the chest, as American police are trained.)

Lol that guy in the orange shirt clearly got what he deserved. Yelling I’m going to kill you to two guys armed with guns. Once you threaten someone’s life anything goes. Those two fat asses definitely did the right thing.
