When police are called to a scene for something like this conflict, they are required to make contact with BOTH sides, whether the parties are acting in a civil manner, or not. Especially if they are not!

The police need to document the incident and identify all players. They actually need to speak with all parties involved to get both sides of the story for their investigation, which now creates something called a ‘history’, just in case something else happens.
As in this case.
It’s called ‘creating a timeline’. Then anyone can look back at the documented incident(s), which are created from what? Police contact!

All that aside, in this particular situation, the shooting was actually a separate incident. This happened after the contact from the bar fight.
The shooter had called the police specifically to get them to come to his house so he could shoot them.
And THIS is exactly why the police contact ALL parties!!! Now they have a history of what happened prior to the shooting. See how it all connects? THAT’S why they went after the guy who drove away from the bar fight.


I don’t know why you find that odd…? It’s their actual JOB to do that!

So… let’s spell this out:
Get your ‘critical thinking cap’ on!
Imagine someone punched you in the face.
You call the police.
They speak ONLY to you, letting the other person go.
Would you feel like they did their due diligence?

Then, what happens when they come back to attack you again, after the police have gone? If they never spoke to the other party, then the police won’t know that it was the same party that attacked you previously. They would have only your word, which, unless you have proof, doesn’t carry ANY weight in the end. Hence why we have the police DOCUMENT things.

And, lastly, if that’s how police actually did their job, (by NOT doing their job…) there are a TON of people who would take absolute advantage of this opportunity to punch someone in the face, or much worse, because they would get away with it!!!

Youre forgetting that the patron that got punched was NOT the person that called the police. In fact, when the police arrived, he refused medical treatment and told them he didn't want to press charges. At that point if the suspect isn't there, they're job there is pretty much done.

The REAL reason why he lured the police there using a fake 911 call was because during the traffic stop it looked like one, maybe two of the officers were throwing insults right back at them.

The huge mistake the officers made was - you KNEW they were both heavily intoxicated and they were ID'd by witnesses as they were leaving. Rather than arresting him for drunk driving, assault (I would think after having to listen to the bullshit the brothers were saying to them id arrest them for assault whether or not the guy that got elbowed wanted me to or not). Instead they chose to call the mother to come pick up her boys which absolutely defies logic to me. You had someone you knew had just committed an assault pushing towards a physical altercation with you who was shitfaced - if he didn't constitute a danger to the community I don't know what more justification they could have been looking for.

On a side note, the officer that chose to not park his cruiser directly in front of the house......a decision that undoubtedly saved his life. Not only that, but he calmly took cover behind what looked like a SUV or a truck, while wounded, and fired a single shot which is some next level marksmanship.

The one thing that stands out to me is him loading a AR magazine upside down. Ive performed several thousand mag changes (if anyone wants to see the best mag change of all time - Val Kilmers in Heat during the robbery shootout scene) it is EXTREMELY hard to even get a mag in upside down and he must have been panicking because it jammed him up enough that he had to abandon using it.
