Nah. Pressurized air would tear a path through past that. When the colon ruptures, all of the fecal matter and bowel flora enter the peritoneum. You get massive peritonitis. My grandma had undiagnosed diverticulitis that ruptured at 3/4am when I was in 10th grade…so, a fairly localized lesion. I remember her having a 104° temp in ICU (surgical ICU?) and barely surviving. Escaped w/ a colostomy bag that was to be reversed so she could move back home, but she fell in the nursing home and broke her hip…never left the nursing home. I’d expect highly pressurized air to rupture the colon, tear through the abdominal organs. Which ones depends on the angle, but small intestine, liver, pancreas are all possibilities. Spleen is a bit too far lateral to hit. Kidneys are a bit more medial, and could be in the path. Renal arteries, definitely! Hell, the descending aorta could be torn open…it doesn’t bifurcate until like L4, and it’s next to the vertebral column as it courses down the abdomen. The air, if high pressure enough, could possibly continue on to blow a hole through the diaphragm and enter the thoracic cavity. You’d also have what’s called pneumoperitoneum. Kinda surprised a lot of people here don't understand just how fucking powerful and dangerous compressed air can be. I've worked in dealerships for nearly 20 years and we too would fuck around with tools all the time including the "air gun" but we never turned it up to 1000psi and aimed directly into anyone's anus with or without clothes cause that would probably hurt someone. A mechanic once told me when I first started to be very careful with compressed air since it could cut through my hand easier than butter with 100 times the mess depending on the psi which on some tools there was really high. He showed me him taking the air gun at just around 150 psi and cutting through an orange fairly easy so I learned early if that shit was turned up it could punch a hole through just about anything. Same as a pressurized water jet. This really makes me wonder what psi this happened at. The "boss" had to have gotten up between this poor guys cheeks, pressed right on his asshole with the air gun tip in an upward position then let the max psi of the machine do the damage. Thats crazy I got some mechanic buddies to tell about this one lol |

The article is revealing. I don’t know if it’s accurate, but it says the compressed air here was used to slice through wood so I don’t think a little fabric and tissue would stop it. Ouch. Having been in the ER several times with a crohn’s attack you can’t imagine how agonizing a stretching bowel can be. I’ve broken my shoulder, and it was nothing compared to the bowel stuff. |
