Kalpesh Suthar, a carpenter of 29, set himself on fire in front of the premises of the police in protest against atrocities allegedly suffered while he was locked up. He later died in hospital.

Kalpesh Suthar had been arrested by police amid a dispute over a property with his stepmother. Once he was released he accused the police of beating him.

Bhuraji Thakore owner of a tea shop and who witnessed the whole scene, told police that two TV journalists convinced Suthar to be sprayed with kerosene and set himself on fire to draw the attention of the national media, they would record the scene and would extinguish the flames immediately, but journalists continued shooting until I finish burning man. The incident occurred in the city of Unjha in Gujarat, India on August 13, 2010.

Is it any surprise that these cultures are ridden with poverty and misery and are basically equal to dogshit when this is the level of care citizens have for their fellow man. Let's be clear here. This is not a small 'group' of a few people the act like this. This is something we see in almost every single fire video on DR.
Infact, there was a recent video, involving an Asian man, who comes running out of his truck on fire after he crashed it. Everyone in the area came running to his aid and began throwing sand on him and pouring water on him which immediately extinguished the fire. I remember some of the comments on the video were pointing out the fact that it was odd to see a video that involved lots of people actually trying to help someone on fire rather than the bystander effect we see almost everywhere that's
3rd world. The fact that 3rd worlders actually fan the flames is ridiculous. Cavemen understood how fire works, yet there are modern humans that don't.

If you're covered in fuel and wearing absorbent clothes, the old drop and roll technique doesn't often work. The sensible thing is to avoid acts of stupidity that cause accidents like this in the first place.

You'd think a police station of all places would be equipped with plenty of items that would quickly help this man. Fucking insane assholes who could care less. I heard some where that sand can be used to extinguish the fire...beating the flames does nothing but make the fire stay strong.
