In this case I doubt it, because the reflex would have been present at the instant he got shot, my guess is hipovolemic condition due to internal hemmorrhage diminished blood flow to the brain and this caused a response similar to a brain injury due to lack of oxygen in motor brain areas.

With no blood I wonder if he was actually shot? Hell, it could have missed him completely and just caused a heart attack. He is a big boy I wouldn't rule out a heart attack just during daily life...
